Nairobi, Dec 5 (IANS/EFE) Kenyan police arrested 77 Chinese nationals for allegedly running a cyber crime ring in capital Nairobi.
The arrested Chinese nationals were also accused of running a high-tech spy centre in Nairobi, local media reported Thursday.
According to police sources, those arrested have been "hacking the country's communication systems" and were in the possession of equipment capable of infiltrating bank accounts.
According to the head of the criminal investigation department, Ndegwa Muhoro, the preliminary investigation showed that the alleged cyber criminals were involved in money laundering and hacking of websites.
The arrests began last Sunday after the existence of the group was discovered, when a server that they were using caught fire and killed a member of the ring, Muhoro told The Standard.
