Kenya's Conseslus Kipruto set an Olympic record to win the men's 3,000 metres steeplechase gold at the Rio Games here on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old finished in eight minutes 3.28 seconds to shave off more than two seconds off the previous record set by his countryman Julius Kariuki at the 1988 Games in Seoul, reports Xinhua.
The United States' Evan Jager took silver at Rio's Olympic Stadium in 8:04.28 and Kenya's two-time Olympic champion Ezekiel Kemboi grabbed the bronze medal in 8:08.47.
Kipruto's victory gave Kenya their fourth gold medal of the Games.
