The Kerala government Wednesday announced the distribution of all pending welfare pensions, 10 new projects and the setting up of a medical college.
The pensions with a total outflow of Rs.300 crore, 10 new projects worth Rs.1,498 crore, and a medical college in the cooperative sector with a liability of close to Rs.500 crore, was announced by the state.
The government also decided to take over the housing loan scheme given to 3,443 beneficiaries under the Kudumbhasree Housing Loan scheme.
"The state government will take over this and in six years' time will pay out Rs.7.75 crore for these beneficiaries to 57 cooperative banks which had given the housing loan," Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media here Wednesday.
A financial package of Rs.100 crore for the ailing state public transport corporation was also cleared Wednesday.
"This would be utilised to pay the arrears in pension and also for the corporation to meet its requirements," Chandy said.
The decision was also taken to set up the Devaswom Board Recruitment. The board looks after the temples in the state and the recruitment to the various establishments under the Devaswoms.
The state's Coconut Development Corporation, which was shut, was revived and asked to submit its programmes for the benefit of coconut farmers.
The state also decided to construct a new railway overbridge at a cost of Rs.52 crore for the upcoming Kochi Metro.
New courses were sanctioned to a few colleges. The government also cleared the plan to set up a museum on cartoonist Shankar.
