The Kerala High Court Friday observed that a new and devotee friendly security cover should be put in place at the Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple to control devotees.

The observation came while the court was looking into complaints that the existing security arrangements at the temple were not devotee friendly.

"In the light of complaints that devotees are treated unfriendly by the security staff, it would be best if a new system is put in place for controlling devotees," a division bench of justices T.R. Ramachandran Nair and Abraham Mathew observed.

There were numerous instances of devotees being roughed up by the security staff at the temple, which is located in Thrissur district.

Early this month, a temple employee was suspended after visuals of a devotee being assaulted by him were leaked to TV channels. The temple authorities had launched a probe into the incident and also about how the visuals were leaked.

Advocate general K.P. Dhandapani Friday handed over the probe report to the court.
