Top Congress leaders in Kerala marched to Governor P. Sathasivam's official residence here on Wednesday evening to protest against party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's detention in Delhi over the suicide by an ex-serviceman.
A meeting of Congress state unit's Political Affairs Committee was on at the party headquarters, close to the Raj Bhavan, when the news of Rahul Gandhi's detention was broadcast by TV channels.
Party leaders then ended the meeting and took to the streets to protest.
Led by former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy , state party chief V.M. Sudheeran, Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala and AICC leaders Mukul Wasnik and Deepak Babaria, apart from several Lok Sabha members and legislators, participated in the march to the Raj Bhavan.
After registering their protest, the Congress leaders and workers later dispersed.
