Lack of discussions due to chaos during assembly proceedings is a waste of public money and this situation needs to be changed, the archbishop of Latin Church in Kerala said on Tuesday.

"...the way political parties perform on the assembly floor, there are hardly any discussions. What we see is chaos after a few minutes and the session comes to a close. It's a waste of public money. This definitely has to change," Archbishop M. Soosapakiam of the Latin diocese of Thiruvananthapuram told reporters here.

He also expressed concern over increased sales of beer and wine in the state.

"Liquor sales have dropped by 25 percent since closure of bars in Kerala, but it's also a matter of concern that beer and wine sales have gone up," said Soosapakiam.

The Latin Church in Kerala comprising 12 dioceses has two million followers.
