A road show organised by Kerala Tourism in Belgian capital Brussels drew a huge response, with ayurveda and the backwaters becoming the cynosure of all eyes.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, Kerala Tourism said 73 prominent tour and travel operators attended the event held on Wednesday.

Kerala's Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar said the state was "overwhelmed" by the high attendance at the road show.

"This makes it clear that Belgium is an emerging market for Kerala Tourism," he said.

In 2014, Belgian tourist arrivals to Kerala totalled 11,986, and in the past five years, it has grown 65 percent.

Kerala Tourism director Sheikh Pareeth said the Belgian delegates were keen to learn more about house boats and trekking along the state's evergreen forests.

"Their curiosity to grasp in depth about each of our highlights was striking. It is an increasingly positive sign for us," said the official.

Belgian tourists are entitled to enjoy the advantage of 'Visa on Arrival' after touching down at the airports in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

A month ago, Kerala Tourism held a similar road show in Polish capital Warsaw, making its foray into eastern Europe.
