Key Indian equity indices were trading in green during the afternoon session on Friday on positive global cues.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 24,729.41 points, was trading at 24,776.83 points (at 01.18 p.m.) in the afternoon session -- higher by 99.46 points, or 0.40 percent from the previous day's close at 24,677.37 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 24,839.38 points and a low of 24,681.64 points in the trade so far.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading higher by 39.80 points, or 0.50 percent at 7,552.35 points.
Sector-wise, the S&P BSE consumer durables index surged by 1.53 percent, metal index gained by 1.47 percent and basic materials index moved up by 1.38 percent. However, healthcare index tanked by 1.63 percent.
