Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant gets environmental clearance

State-run THDC India Ltd. (THDCIL) on Monday announced that it has obtained the environmental clearance for its 1,320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) in Uttar Pradesh.

THDCIL, a joint venture between the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, is implementing KSTPP near Bulandshahr of Uttar Pradesh at an estimated expenditure of Rs 9,747.5 crore, the company said in a statement here.

"This power project will help in meeting much-needed power demand in northern India," the statement said.

"The Union Coal Ministry has already allocated Amelia coal mine at Singrauli of Madhya Pradesh on 29.08.2016 to THDCIL for the implementation of this project," it added.

 

The THDCIL has an installed capacity of 1,513 MW, with the commissioning of the 1,000 MW Tehri Dam and Hydro Power Project, the 400 MW Koteshwar Hydroelectric Project and wind power projects of 50 MW at Patan and 63 MW at Dwarka in Gujarat.
