A contract killer, carrying a reward of Rs.50,000 on his head, was arrested for a Delhi-based businessman's murder committed six years ago, police said Monday.
Sharpshooter Abuzar, 28, a resident of Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested Saturday from near Connaught Place in central Delhi following a tip-off.
"Abuzar was declared proclaimed offender. He has a bounty of Rs.50,000 on his head," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.
The murder was committed April 7, 2008, when businessman Arun Gupta, son-in-law of the owner of Mittal Farms in Mehrauli, had left for office from his Kalkaji house in south Delhi and had gone just 100 metres in his car.
Gupta had stopped as his car was stuck in a traffic jam when Abuzar and his two associates arrived on a bike and sprayed bullets, killing him on the spot.
Dinesh Kumar Mittal, brother-in-law of Gupta, had planned the murder over a multi-crore property and financial dispute.
During investigation, Dinesh and his associates - Mohd. Haroon, Afroz, Mohd. Parvez, Junaid and Shakeel Ahmed - were arrested. But Abuzar managed tgo run away and was on the run.
