Kenya's Edna Ngeringwony Kiplagat claimed the first gold medal at the 2013 IAAF World Championship here on Saturday when she won the women's marathon in 2:25.44.
The 33-year-old Kiplagat, who led home a clean Kenyan podium sweep in the event's last edition Daegu, made history as the first woman ever to land back-to-back marathon titles in World Championships.
