Lazio striker Miroslav Klose has set a personal target to overtake former Brazil striker Ronaldo and become the FIFA World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer.

Over the past three World Cup tournaments, the 35-year-old German forward has scored 14 goals, one less than Ronaldo, reports Xinhua.

The World Cup in Brazil, possibly Klose's last one, would provide an ideal chance for him to strike at least two goals to break Ronaldo's record.

"Those who know me understand that I will be fighting to reach that target," Klose said.

"With one goal I will catch Ronaldo, but I need two goals to be top myself. I am in a good run of form and I am hoping to get to the World Cup at 100 percent," he said.

"I am giving everything in training and I will be ready," he added.
