Skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara put India in a comfortable position with the hosts reaching 210/2 at tea on the opening day of the second Test against England at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday.
Both Kohli (91 not out) and Pujara (97 not out) were on the brink of reaching their individual centuries when a dog intervened in the proceedings, forcing the umpires to call for an early break.
Resuming the second session at 91/2, both the right handers registered their respective half-centuries as they stitched a 188-run partnership for the third wicket to bail India out of trouble.
Brief Scores: India 210/2 (Cheteshwar Pujara 97 not out, Virat Kohli 91 not out, Stuart Broad 1/32, James Anderson 1/25) vs England.
