An unbeaten 85-run stand between Virat Kohli (batting 54) and Ajinkya Rahane (batting 33) helped India reach 104 for three, needing 280 more runs to win at tea against Australia on the fifth and final day of the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here Tuesday.
India had a horror start as they lost their first three wickets -- Murali Vijay (11), Shikhar Dhawan (0) and Lokesh Rahul (1) -- within the first six overs but Kohli and Rahane came to the rescue and stabilised the ship.
Australian pacers Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris and Josh Hazlewood took a wicket each.
