People were seen wearing long coats, woollens, monkey caps and mufflers, and savouring soups and other hot beverages.

However, the chilly weather could not dampen the spirits of the revellers, who visited the well-decorated Park Street, as also other popular sites likes the zoo, Eco park, Victoria memorial.

The city's minimum temperature was three degrees below normal while the maximum temperature touched 23 degrees Celsius, also three degrees below the normal, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.

According to an met official, the city should brace for a chilly spell in the coming 3-4 days as the mercury might dip further in the absence of western disturbances.

Night temperatures would likely to continue below normal by 2-4 degrees over land areas of the region during the next 3 days in the south Bengal districts, local weather office said.
