Displaying images that capture how celestial objects look from the viewpoint of a skywatcher, the city is set to host its first exclusive photography exhibition on astronomy from Feb 24.
The exhibition, showcasing the still frames of two French photographers Thierry Legault and Laurent Lavedar and an Indian astrophotographer Ajay Talwar, would continue till March 7 at the M.P. Birla Planetarium here.
"A salient feature of the exhibition is that it is not merely images of astro-objects. Rather than being technical, it has a human angle. It will show how astro-objects look to the sky-watchers," MP Birla Planetarium Director (Research and Academic) Debiprosad Duari told IANS.
The event is being organised by the planetarium in collaboration with Alliance francaise du Bengale and French Institute.
French Consul Fabrice Etienne will be the chief guest at Monday's inauguration.
"This is for the first time in the city of Kolkata a photography exhibition exclusively on astronomy is being held," said Duari.
