A 45-year-old man has been arrested for kidnapping the four-year-old son of a civil contractor who employed him, the police said here on Friday.
Israel, a labourer, has been arrested from his hideout in Mustafabad in Uttar Pradesh and the child was rescued, the police said.
Sarfaraj, who works as a civil contractor, found his four-year-old son missing from Kalkaji area of south Delhi on Thursday.
"Sarfaraj said he has taken a contract for construction of a wall in Deshbandhu College (in Kalkaji). He suspected one of his labourers, Israel, as he was missing. He told the police that Israel was demanding his pending salary Rs 15,000, which he refused to pay. Following this, Israel threatened him of dire consequences," Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya said.
Israel was planning to take the minor boy to his native place in Bihar. He said he kidnapped the child for ransom as he needed money urgently, the police officer added.
