Singer-actress Lady Gaga and actor Bradley Cooper-starrer "A Star Is Born" will now release five months later than the slated month which was May next year.

It will hit the screens on October 5. Production house Warner Bros has moved the film to release during the awards season consideration, reports variety.com.

The film will also mark Coopers's directorial debut. He will also be co-producing the project through his 22 and Green production company along with Jon Peters, Bill Gerber, and Basil Iwanyk.

The project is based on the 1937 film by the same name, which was directed by William Wellmam.

The story centres on a fading movie star who helps an aspiring actress while his own career spirals downward.

Cooper came on board as a director following his work with actor-filmmaker Clint Eastwood on "American Sniper".

Eastwood attempted to get the film made for years with Cooper in the role of the fading movie star and eventually left the project, but not before suggesting to Cooper that he try directing the movie, as the actor was seeking his first directing job.
