The BJP's Rajasthan unit on Wednesday came in support of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje whose resignation was demanded by opposition parties for allegedly favouring former IPL chief Lalit Modi.
Health Minister Rajendra Rathore, while addressing a press conference, said: "The BJP is fully behind the chief minister and there is no questioning of her resigning."
The Congress on Wednesday demanded the immediate resignation of Raje citing documents carrying her signature in support of Modi.
In Delhi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said: "In August 2011, Vasundhara Raje had given a statement and on the basis of that she had demanded that Lalit Modi, who is a 'fugitive' should be allowed to stay in England only"
BJP state unit president Ashok Parnami said the party would only be able to comment on the issue after seeing the documents.
"She did not go personally to depose before the British authorities. We will only be able to comment after seeing the documents, the contents and the context."
"She as a chief minister, leader of opposition and state president of the BJP used to sign lots of documents. We have to look at the documents first before giving any comment on the issue," Parnami said.
