RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence over the killing of farmers in Jharkhand allegedly for grabbing land.

"PM who cries at drop of a hat in other country, won't utter a single word against land grabbing and brutal killing of farmers by Jharkhnd government," Lalu said in his latest tweet.

Lalu said Modi should say something over such a serious issue. "Why Modi is keeping mum over this shocking incident in Jharkhand".

Earlier, Lalu had equated the killing of four poor villagers in police firing in Jharkhand on October 1 with what happened in West Bengal years ago.

He also demanded a probe into the incident by a sitting judge of the high court.

"BJP led government in Jharkhand is responsible for killing of innocent people. It has exposed anti-people face of the Jharkhand government," the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief said.

Four villagers were killed and more than 20 injured in police firing in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district last Saturday.

The villagers supported by the opposition parties were protesting against land acquisition and low compensation amount by the NTPC.

The NTPC Barkagaon project is facing protests since 2004.

In 2010, coal mines in the area were allocated to the NTPC but work could not begin.
