At least five people were killed Tuesday and 10 others trapped under collapsed houses when a landslide, triggered by heavy rains, in Indonesia brought piles of mud sliding down a hillside, officials said.
Five people were killed in Jombang district when a landslide brought down a river of mud which covered at least 15 houses, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of national disaster agency, told Xinhua.
Rescuers, including police, had launched an operation to rescue those buried under the wreckage of the houses, said an official of the national search and rescue office.
