Lawyers in Jammu on Wednesday struck work to protest against a shooting incident in the court complex here, in which one person was injured.
The Jammu Bar Association said on Wednesday that the firing inside the court complex here on Tuesday was proof of lack of security within the complex.
"We have been bringing it to the notice of judges about inadequate security inside the court complexes in the city. We have even met the principal district and sessions judge to attract his attention towards the security lapse that led to firing arising out of gang rivalry.
"We have decided to stay away from the high court and subordinate courts for the day to protest against lack of security in the courts here," a representative of the bar association said.
One Surinder Singh alias Kala was injured in firing by a member of a rival gang inside the Jammu court complex on Tuesday.
Police have arrested six people and seized the revolver used in the firing.
