A leopard was caught on the outskirts of this northern West Bengal town late on Tuesday night, a senior forest official said on Wednesday.
The leopard, which had been creating havoc in the area for nearly a week, was caged at Arai Mile locality after it fell for a dog kept as a bait to catch the big cat, said Divisional Forest Officer, Baikanthapur, Uma Rani.
The leopard has been handed over to Sukna wildlife wing, hours after it was caught.
Rani said the animal would be released back into the forest after health check-up.
