A local council chief of a Libyan town was attacked Wednesday in a bid to kidnap him from the capital city of Tripoli.
Abdel Akim Bedran, head of the Local Council of Mizadh, was also shot in his leg while being attempted to kidnap him, Xinhua reported.
According to Bedran's deputy Mohamed Abdul Nabi said that unidentified men stormed the headquarter of Mizadh Local Council and opened fire attempting to kidnap Bedran.
The assailants, however, failed and Bedran was rushed to hospital.
Mizadh Local Council moved to Tripoli in June 2012, after the armed clashes between two local tribes, Quntrar and Meshashiya.
