At least six people were killed in lightning strikes across West Bengal as heavy shower and thunderstorms swept the southern parts of the state on Friday, an official said.
Two persons each were killed in Nadia and West Midnapore districts while two more lost their lives in Birbhum and West Burdwan, an officer from state police control confirmed.
The death toll may rise as other parts of the state were also largely affected by the pre-monsoon showerd since Friday afternoon.
The regional meteorological department has predicted more rainfall in the southern Bengal districts over the next two days.
