Lok Sabha adjourned abruptly as BJP member falls sick

The Lok Sabha was abruptly adjourned for about 20 minutes on Wednesday afternoon when a ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member complained of uneasiness and blood pressure problem, officials said.

Lok Sabha secretariat officials later said Savitri Bai Phule (33), BJP MP from Bahraich, complained of uneasiness while she was participating in a discussion on drought and water scarcity under Rule 193.

Hukum Singh, who was in the chair, adjourned the house for 20 minutes and the member was attended to by a team of medical personnel in parliament.

The House later resumed normal business.
