Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday stressed the need for safety and security on the Indian Railways and said it is mulling ideas from stakeholders for improving security across its network.

"In India, there are various vulnerable sections in our network. The railways is looking at ideas from different stakeholders for improving security," the Minister said at a roundtable conference here with non-railway stakeholders on 'Railway Security Issues'.

He said there were a lot of challenges that the railways faced to ensure safe and secure running of trains across the country.
