The Indian Grand Prix organisers have lowered their turnout projection for the Formula 1 race Sunday, saying 55,000 seats are likely to be filled at the one lakh capacity Buddh International Circuit (BIC).

"I am expecting that 50,000 tickets will be sold for the race. 5,000 to 7,000 passes have been distributed for our guests," Jaypee Sports International CEO Sameer Gaur told IANS at the BIC paddock here Saturday.

Going by his prediction, it is set to be lowest turnout in three editions. A whopping 95,000 attended the inaugural race before the number came down to 65,000 last year.

The Indian Grand Prix has been removed from the 2014 calendar but all stakeholders are confident of its return in 2015.
