Rapper-producer duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won the best new artist award at the 56th annual Grammy awards.
The gala took place Sunday at the Staples Center here.
Their hip hop album "The Heist" has been nominated in seven categories like album of the year and best rap album.
Their single "Thrift shop" from the same album, has been nominated in the best rap performance and best rap song category.
Another track from the album "Same love", a tribute to marriage equality and gay rights, has been nominated for the song of the year category.
