Argentine President Mauricio Macri welcomed the Paralympians and praised them for their "efforts" and "perseverance."
According to the Argentine president's office, the meeting, which was attended by members of the Los Murcielagos football team, who clinched the bronze medal, sports secretary Carlos MacAllister and the president of the Argentine Paralympic Committee Jose Maria Valladares took place at the Olivos presidential residence on the northern outskirts of Buenos Aires on Friday, where Macri welcomed the athletes with Vice President Gabriela Michetti, reports Efe.
The president said the "efforts and perseverance" of those representing Argentina in the Rio Paralympics "is a demonstration of the fact that where there's the will, a thousand things can be achieved."
Macri also noted "the importance of sports and healthy competition as a school for values."
The sports delegation included gold medallist in track and field event Yanina Martinez, Hernan Urra, silver medal in shot put and Hernan Barreto, who took bronze in the 200 metre sprint.
