President-elect of Iran Hassan Rouhani Saturday said that his mission would be to maintain the public love and trust in him, reported IRNA.

Addressing his endorsement ceremony, attended by Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, at a ceremony here, Rouhani said the June 14 presidential poll manifested the people's trust in the Islamic establishment.

He said the election was not the result of a rift between people and the governing system.

The 64-year-old former nuclear negotiator for Iran noted that the poll showed that democracy has been institutionalised in the country.

Highlighting his policy of moderation in his future career, he said he would strive for development of the country and said bright horizons are ahead of Iran.

Rouhani replaces Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as president of Iran.

Ten foreign delegations, including the Indian delegation led by Foreign Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, have already arrived in the Iranian capital for the swearing in ceremony of the president-elect, according to IRNA.

Khurshid will also have a meeting with his counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi.

Although the official term of Rouhani started Saturday, his inauguration ceremony is slated to be held in Iranian parliament Sunday.
