Mainz reinforced their squad with the signing of Serbia international Filip Djuricic, the German Bundesliga club has confirmed.
The 22-year-old midfielder moves from Benfica to Mainz on loan for one season. Both sides agreed Wednesday to keep silence over further contract details, reports Xinhua.
"Filip Djuricic is a young player who worked his way up into a European top club. We are pleased that we can bind him for one year on loan," Mainz manager Christian Heidel told the club's official website.
The new arrival scored 20 goals in 98 appearances for the Dutch club Heerenveen before he joined the Portuguese club Benfica in February 2013, making only 11 appearances. Djuricic is part of Serbia's national soccer team since 2012 and scored four goals in 15 caps.
"He is a talented, agile, versatile and dangerous in front of the goal. Due to his versatility he will give us greater variability," Mainz coach Kasper Hjulmand said.
Mainz completed the last season in 7th position in the Bundesliga standings.
