Casualties were feared on Saturday as a massive fire broke out in a market in Afghanistan capital Kabul, police said.
"The fire started around 10 a.m. (local time) in a shoe market in Mandawi, the business centre in the city, causing serious damage to the shops," Xinhua quoted the police official as saying.
"We are inspecting the cause of the fire, and possible casualty figures will be released later," the official said.
Thick smoke was seen at the site while several fire engines and ambulances rushed to the place.
Several roads were blocked by police as a precautionary measure.
