Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who survived a terrorist attack for advocating girls' education and shared last year's Nobel Peace Prize, spoke at the United Nations General Assembly from a gallery lit in blue.
Flanked by a Syrian and Pakistani girl, she made a plea for giving equal educational opportunities for girls during her speech on Friday, calling it a right.
Later, she addressed a UN press conference almost at the same time Prime Minister Narendra Modi was speaking.
