A Malaysian delegation on Wednesday met Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje here and discussed investment and partnership opportunities in the state.

The Malaysian delegation led by Minister of Works Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof discussed investment opportunities in the state during an hour-long meeting with Raje and her cabinet colleagues.

"The Rajasthan government has taken up various programmes for infrastructure development and the state is now looking for partners, mainly in public-private partnership mode, who have the required technical expertise and financial resources," Raje said in a statement here.

She invited Malaysian companies and government agencies like the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), a statutory body working under Malaysia's ministry of works, to invest in the construction of highways in Rajasthan and Phase-2 of Jaipur Metro.

"The state also offers immense potential in the tourism sector," she said.

On the occasion, public works department officials said proposals related to the construction of 3,500-km length highways entailing expenditure of Rs.8,200 crore were discussed with CIDB, which had expressed interest in Swiss challenge route.

The Swiss challenge route is a process whereby a public authority receiving an unsolicited bid for a project publishes details of the bid and invites third parties to match or exceed it.
