West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday offered help to quake-ravaged Nepal.
"Let us stand beside our brothers and sisters in Nepal. They don't even have the basic needs like food and water. So, whatever our friends from Nepal will ask, we are willing to give," Banerjee told mediapersons here.
"Many people from Nepal live in Bengal and there are many from Bengal who earn their livelihood in Nepal. Nepal is India's friend and it is our duty to help them. We are also ready to help Bihar and Uttar Pradesh which too have been affected by the quake," said Banerjee.
With Trinamool sweeping the polls to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and 91 other civic bodies in the state, Banerjee also urged her party people not to take out any victory rally to show solidarity with the earthquake victims.
While the death toll in Saturday's earthquake has gone beyond 4300, Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday said the figure might go up to 10,000.
