Man hacks two daughters to death in Uttar Pradesh

A man, apparently depressed for some time, hacked his two daughters to death and critically injured his wife in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district, police said Monday. He has been arrested.

The incident took place in Rampur village of Thariaon area late Sunday in Fatehpur, 119 km from here, when in a fit of rage Akshay Pratap Singh went to the rooftop and first killed his two daughters - Kallo (4) and Kashish (6) - and then attacked his sleeping wife, Rano.

As she cried out for help, family members and other villagers rushed to her rescue and managed to overpower Singh. Police were called and the three injured were taken to a hospital in Kanpur city where the two daughters were pronounced dead.

 

Rano, who sustained serious wounds on her head, is battling for her life.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and Singh has been arrested.

Family members said that he was depressed for some time and was undergoing medical treatment.
