Man held at IGI Airport with foreign currency

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has arrested a passenger here at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) with foreign currency worth over Rs.1 crore, said an official on Thursday.

Aakash Nagpal, a resident of New Govindpuri in south Delhi, was arrested on Wednesday night at the airport.

"Nagpal was supposed to travel to Mumbai by flight number AI-317. He was selected for thorough checking of his belongings and his luggage was passed through X-Ray baggage inspection system at international security hold area of Terminal-3, IGI Airport," CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said.

"On checking, we recovered 62,550 euros, 39,500 US Dollars and 60,00,000 Yen from his luggage," he said.

 

The foreign currency is worth Rs.1.11 crore in Indian currency.

Nagpal has been handed over to the Income Tax Department for further action, the official said.
