A 22-year-old man with criminal history was on Tuesday arrested for gunning down his father-cum-Haryana Police officer who objected to his "criminal activities", police said.

The body of Assistant Sub-Inspector Naresh Kumar Yadav, bearing a gunshot injury, was found at his residence in U block of DLF Phase 3, an officer said. His son was found missing.

Yadav, 44, was posted in Faridabad. Police have arrested Yadav's son Mohit from Jaipur. "He will be produced before a court on Wednesday," a police officer said.

The accused has a history of involvement in murder, attempt to murder, theft and snatching.

Several FIRs have been registered against Mohit at various police stations in Gurugram and outside the district.

"Police officer Yadav often objected against the criminal activities of his son and scolded him on several occasions. Mohit killed his father for scolding him," the officer added.
