A fugitive criminal has been arrested in connection with the murder of a property dealer over a dispute here, police said on Tuesday.

Police said the accused, identified as Ashish Tomar, 29, a resident of Nawada Housing Society, also worked as a property dealer.

He later joined notorious gangster Manjeet Mahal's gang to make more money.

"Tomar, along with his four associates, had on November 8 last year murdered Bijendra, a property dealer of Uttam Nagar, over a property dispute," Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said.

He was on the run since then, Yadav said.

"Tomar was arrested on Monday night during a raid by police team when he came to meet one of his associates at Sector-15 in Dwarka in south Delhi," the police officer said.

Tomar is the husband of Anju Gupta, a local councillor of Congress party from Mohan Garden in Uttam Nagar, he added.
