The manager of a paying guest accommodation here was arrested for renting out a part of the premises to a Japanese woman without informing the authorities, police said on Friday.

Viplav Roy, 37, was taken into custody under the Foreigners Act 1946.

The illegal occupation came to light after the police raided guest houses, paying guest houses and hotels ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Gurgaon on November 1.

Police officer Sanjeev Kumar told IANS: "Roy accommodated Sachi Kuwahara, a Japanese, in his PG on October 15 but did not follow the mandatory rules of filling up Form C and informing police about her stay.

"Kuwahara was carrying all necessary legal documents, so no action was taken against her. She had a valid visa to stay in India till October 4, 2017," the officer said.
