A 35-year-old man was arrested here on Wednesday for allegedly thrashing an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) inside the police station.

Satpal Singh, a resident of Bar Gujjar village, was arrested for attacking ASI Anil Kumar inside the Kherki Daula police station.

Police had arrested Singh's younger brother Laxman Singh on Wednesday morning in a case of illegal mining and stealing stones from Aravalli hills that was registered August last year.

"Singh arrived at the police station and started beating ASI Kumar for arresting his brother," Ghulam Mohammad, chief of the Kherki Daula police station told IANS.

However, Singh alleged that his brother was implicated by the then chief of the Kherki Daula police station for not paying a bribe.

"Police had assured the village panchayat (community meeting), gathered at the police station in support of Laxman in August that his brother's name was removed from the FIR as he was innocent but now some police officers were again implicating him to extort money from us," Singh told IANS.

Police said that Singh was under the influence of alcohol when he attacked ASI Kumar.

The medical examination of Singh and ASI Kumar has been conducted.

Singh was later produced in court which sent him to judicial custody.
