A man who migrated to Pakistan in 1947 came back to India with his wife and daughter, but all three were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, police said on Monday.

Police in Mendhar town arrested the three members of the family -- Mohammad Aziz, son of Maqam Din, a resident of Salwah in the district, his wife Rashida Begum and their 26-year-old daughter Hafiza Kouser -- who came to India crossing the Nepal border, a police officer said here.

"An old man, his wife and their young girl reached Mendhar last night (Sunday), but were arrested before they could reach their Sarwah village and are now in police custody," the police officer said.

The couple had crossed over to Pakistan in 1947, and their daughter was born there.
