A civilian was Sunday evening shot at by separatist guerrillas in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. The man later succumbed to injuries at a hospital.

Police said the militants fired at Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar in Dogripora (Awantipora) village.

He was taken in critical condition to a hospital in Srinagar where he died.

Dar was the brother of Peoples Democratic Party sarpanch (village head) Muhammad Shaban Dar. Their father had also been killed by guerrillas, officials said.
