A banker, his son and daughter drowned in the Yamuna river Thursday, police said.

Braj Kishore Sharma, an employee of a Punjab National Bank branch in Firozabad, had come to his village in Artoni for a wedding with his wife and two children.

The son and daughter went for a bath in the Yamuna, but were swept away. Their father jumped in to pull them out, but all three drowned.

Police Thursday said the bodies of the man and his daughter were found, but the son's body was still untraceable.

The children along with others from the village were playing in the river's shallow waters, while their father was keeping a watch from the bank. Suddenly, they were swept into the deeper waters and began drowning. Sharma jumped into the river but drowned, a villager told police.
