Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will soon start a course in Mandarin Chinese under its school of language, literature and culture studies, a Taiwanese official said Saturday.
"We have already recruited teacher to teach Mandarin Chinese and by October the course will start, once JNU finishes with its formalities," Yi-Ta Chen, secretary of Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India, told IANS.
Mandarin Chinese is already being taught in Jamia Millia Islamia.
Yi Ta is hopeful that by next year, they would be able to start a Taiwan Education Centre in JNU.
