Manoj Kumar elected as Player's representative in BFI

Commonwealth Games medallist Manoj Kumar was on Tuesday elected as the Players' Representative in the Boxing Federation of India (BFI).

Manoj managed to garner 16 votes from the total of 27, when voting was held on the final day of the Senior Men's National Championship at the Sarusajai Indoor Stadium here.

Overall the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) topped the tally with eight medals (four gold, three silver and one bronze) followed by the Railways Sports Selection Board (RSCB) with six medals (two gold, two silver and two bronze) and Haryana came third with four medals (one gold and three silver).

 

Chandigarh's 20-year-old Deepak Singh, who beat Laishram Devendro Singh in the flyweight (52kg) category to clinch the gold, was adjudged the best boxer of the tournament.
