Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha on Wednesday flagged off Varanasi-Buxar MEMU train service through video conferencing here to provide additional end-to-end connectivity between the two cities.
After flagging off the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train, Sinha said: "This 16-coach MEMU train has the capacity to carry around 1,500 passengers. This new train will facilitate travel of people of Buxar (Bihar) to Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh)."
The 16-coach train will cover the distance of 111 km from Buxar in 3.30 hours, while from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh it will take 3.35 hours.
The train will depart from Buxar at 6.15 a.m to reach Varanasi at 9.45 a.m, while it will leave Varanasi at 6.25 p.m and arrive in Buxar at 10 p.m.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said a lot of infrastructure development projects have been initiated in Buxar.
