A Maoist leader carrying a reward of Rs.4 lakh surrendered Tuesday along with his wife in Odisha's Malkangiri district, police said.
"Bhima alias Sodhi along with his wife Nangi Kunjami surrendered at the district headquarters town of Malkangiri (about 620 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar)," Inspector General of Police Yashwant Jethwa told IANS.
Bhima joined the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in 2009. His role is suspected in several Maoist violence acts.
"His wife was also an active rebel and joined the CPI-Maoist in 2012," he said.
Malkangiri district is considered a stronghold of Maoists in Odisha.
