A Maoist guerrilla was on Sunday arrested in a joint operation by police teams from Jharkhand and Bihar from a Ranchi hospital where he was undergoing treatment for malaria, police said.
The Maoist named Sonu was arrested from the hospital on Ranchi's Station Road.
Sonu is a top-ranked commander of banned Maoist outfit People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) and is wanted in many cases. He is also wanted by Bihar Police in a bomb blast case.
According to the police, Sonu was operating in the Saranda forest in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, where he got infected with malaria. He got himself admitted to the Ranchi hospital.
Acting on a tip from their Bihar counterparts, Jharkhand Police raided the hospital and arrested him.
